Just a little something … to lift you up

This week was an especially hard one for me. It began with a week of feeling as if I were almost drowning in tears of grief and loosing the ability to breathe deeply (they tell me it’s asthma but I don’t agree). But, yesterday that last straw broke the camel’s back and I awoke to gasping, unable to breathe; I sank to my knees while grabbing the nebulizer and was ready to truly ‘be free’ imploring Abba to bring me home to join my husband and son. I know, I know, that sounds horrid doesn’t it – a weak willed woman ready to give up, looking for escape....

Joy comes in the morning…

Psalm 30 I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up    and have not let my foes rejoice over me.2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,    and you have healed me.3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;    you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.[a 4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,    and give thanks to his holy name.5 For his anger is but for a moment,    and his favor is for a lifetime.Weeping may tarry for the night,    but joy comes with the morning. Had to remember that because of this: What else is a gal supposed to do when...

Roller Coaster Rides…

Posted by on Sep 22, 2018 | 0 comments

Is that what Life is just all about? One roller coaster ride after another? It sure seems like it; now I know why I’ve never liked roller coasters! In order for it to be called a roller coaster ride, it has to be up and down, round and round – there are no straight paths, it’s all curves. Curves and dips that make your stomach drop right out and your screams of distress just seem to ride the wind with no response at hand. I hate roller coaster rides! Children and Parental Love

A very wise friend of mine, Bill Bullock, a teacher and respected leader wrote the following question on FB which I couldn’t help but replying to and speculating on. It came almost immediately after reading a message my son Jim wrote to his children and wife. Here are my thoughts and I pray they encourage you.     From Bill (Rabbi’s Son) How does a good parent or grandparent teach the children he/she loves to: [1] know, love, and trust God; [2] enjoy praying; [3] delight in the Sabbath and find meaning in the Holy Days; [4] recognize that the life instructions...

Help needed

Jim & I find ourselves in the uncomfortable position of reaching out and asking for help. We prayed and sought our hearts and advise from friends and family on how to handle this – as we are of the ‘age’ and generation where you do it all yourself. However, we simply can’t and need to reach out. Jim and I bought this ‘last ever’ house three years ago and  were so blessed – we still believe that. It was a foreclosure and it was something we could financially afford as we both are retired and on Social Security. Unfortunately – the last 18...

Time to Give Thanks

Yes, the last of the beautiful tapestry of bronze and gold leaves have succumbed to the wintery blast after being treated to summertime temperatures just a week ago.  Winter is on the cusp of being here and I’m making plans to nest inside. Not much of a snow bunny here, I must admit. That being said, this time of the year always brings long-lost memories alive as they sneak out of their closets with every spicy smell and tattered photograph.  Each sensory prick stops me in my tracks as I relive a childhood past.  Good times, bad times and times in between. Reveling in each – is a...
