Entering in

…to celebrate –  SHABBAT! Another week has come to a close and a new one begins as we take deep breaths … in – out – in – out and settle into the joy and peace of Shabbat! The seventh day is a day set aside by the Holy One Himself – from the beginning of time.  A time for all of us, man and beast, to rest and renew our strength. We rest in Him because – well, He IS our strength! During these last few weeks of transitioning into a different reality – one that does not have my youngest son here in the flesh – one would think that...

Your Journey Matters

Everything you do in life matters….even the mundane. Maybe, the mundane is even more important!  Here is the last daily word of Rabbi Jacobson, an orthodox Rabbi that truly touched my heart this morning. Perhaps we could learn more about how to live life in a godly way from those who have kept the oracles of the great One far longer than we have known about them. EVERYTHING YOU DO MATTERS Once upon a time, the Baal Shem Tov sent a group of his students on an important mission to help a needy couple in another town.  When they returned, he was not so interested in hearing about their...

Shabbat … ahhhhh…..good to know!

It’s been 30 years since I stumbled upon the wonderful world of Shabbat….30 years and counting. Not to say that in the beginning I just jumped all in and gave up my Sunday for Saturday – not at all. For me, it was like a very gradual process. But as I look back, I can now appreciate more of the little things. The little things like just thanking the Heavenly Father for even allowing me to know about His set apart day! Who knew that He had never changed His mind!? Growing up Catholic, there was never any reason to question why we did what we did.  We just did it, convinced...

Today is a day of Shabbat…a day of peace and blessing and yes, I must admit, a bit of testing out the Sukkah a few days before the Feast.  The tiny makeshift canopy blowing in the wind above me is minuscule compared to the enormous, glorious expanse above – the canopy of the Creator of heaven and earth! The fall beauty of the changing colors surrounding me test my ability to concentrate on what I will be sharing tomorrow with friends and family. Those grey tailed squirrels demand attention  as they come within a few feet to bury their winter treasures in the ground, stamp it with...

Sabbath Ponderings

Pondering a few teachings that I read or listened to this past week….pondering on the Torah portion… and came up with a novel idea.   Maybe this is the week that each and every person will decide to get past all the drama and trauma in their lives and to actually MOVE ON with what the Creator of the Universe has called them to do.   Maybe … just maybe if each and every one of us embrace and walk in humility and consider each other as a child of the King, maybe, just maybe we will be fully able to walk in what He has called us to do.   And what that might be?????   TO...

Judge vs. Judge Not – Which Is It?

Posted by on Apr 23, 2016 | 0 comments

Many times in today’s circles of ‘religiosity’ – no matter what flavor it happens to be – we always tend to wind up on the biblical paradox subject of “judge” vs “judge not”. Which side of the fence do you usually stand on….righteously of course. It seems as if there is a contradiction in the Bible doesn’t there? Whenever there seems to be an apparent contradiction in the scriptures, it’s wisdom to at least take another look don’t you think? Either we are not reading it in context or we are imputing a modern...
