The Journey still has Potholes

Well….last night was a bump in the road…a pothole that truly gave my body a jolt. After having a really good 3 nites of rest, the persistent, non-forgiving hacking cough was back….for hours. As soon as I would lie down, the rumble would begin deep in my chest, wind its way up to my throat and threaten to choke until there was no escaping THE COUGH! Oh how I hate that cough! It is from the pits, and while I tried to pray and strengthen my spirit with good thoughts…the hacking would not stop until I got back up. After nebulizing food grade Hydrogen Peroxide and walking around at 11:30pm….air was finally recognized as belonging in my lungs and made life a little more bearable. Yeah…I know … that was kinda dramatic … but hey – it’s my blog! And I know that I know that someone out there knows exactly how it feels!

As I said in my first post on this journey blog, it’s a new protocol that I’m following ~ thank you Jason ~ and I knew there would be a few potholes….but hey, a gal can hope and pray can’t she? Well, I am a realist too, so I knew they kinda lurked around the corner, but last night took me by surprise. The previous nites had lulled me into a false sense of security. However, that being said, for those of you fighting any type of ‘breathing‘ problem (and I don‘t just mean physical) just take a step back, re-evaluate and begin again. At least, that’s what I’m doing at this point. Not giving up…nope, not in this lifetime…or the next!

Blogging about this is part of my therapy – keeping track of how it feels, good or bad, encourages me to keep on moving, one step at a time. Maybe blogging, or keeping a journal will help you as well? Tracking your progress on your path is a great way to objectively evaluate what works and what doesn’t. Sometimes we need to step outside the situation (be it physical or spiritual), look with ‘new‘ eyes and see events from a different perspective. Sometimes, it is even wise (and it usually is ALWAYS the case) to ask for outside help so that you can see that which you could not.  So, here’s to all of us fighting the good fight! KEEP GOING!

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
