Shabbat Shalom

SHABBAT SHALOM Today has many meanings … of course, today, July 24th is Shabbat – she rises to the top! Another aspect of July 24th, if you follow the Hebrew Calendar, is this would be Av 15. A very interesting date in the Hebrew Calendar. According to Jewish historians, the 15th of Av was when the generation that came out of Egypt under Moses’ leadership died out int he desert. They wandered 38 years through the wilderness until a new generation of Israelites stood ready to enter the Holy Land. It was the 15th of Av of the year 2487 from creation, or 1274 BCE. Another 15th...

Hindsight is 2020….

Well, that’s what they say anyway! And this will be the ONLY year that we can actually claim that … Hindsight is 2020! What is hindsight? Well, according to Webster dictionary it says: perception of the nature of an event after it has happened In hindsight, it’s clear there were alternatives. Hindsight is twenty-twenty. So…there we have it … there are several ‘events’ that have happened in the year 2020 … every one can pretty much pick one I’d say. There are several 2020 hindsight events that stand out to me … some good, some not so...

Many of you know the situations we have found ourselves in over the past years. The trials and tribulations have been, at times, seemingly insurmountable, but somehow we keep pushing through … and it is only by the grace of the Almighty who holds us tightly and friends and family who continue to support and lift us up with encouragement and prayers. At times, I, myself, thought I could endure no more. It is amazing how many tears the human body can produce, the depths of the heart wrenching sobs that seep through the layers of walls we have built for ourselves and the inability to...

Just a little something … to lift you up

This week was an especially hard one for me. It began with a week of feeling as if I were almost drowning in tears of grief and loosing the ability to breathe deeply (they tell me it’s asthma but I don’t agree). But, yesterday that last straw broke the camel’s back and I awoke to gasping, unable to breathe; I sank to my knees while grabbing the nebulizer and was ready to truly ‘be free’ imploring Abba to bring me home to join my husband and son. I know, I know, that sounds horrid doesn’t it – a weak willed woman ready to give up, looking for escape....

Psalm 30 I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up    and have not let my foes rejoice over me.2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,    and you have healed me.3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;    you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.[a 4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,    and give thanks to his holy name.5 For his anger is but for a moment,    and his favor is for a lifetime.Weeping may tarry for the night,    but joy comes with the morning. Had to remember that because of this: What else is a gal supposed to do when...

Roller Coaster Rides…

Posted by on Sep 22, 2018 | 0 comments

Is that what Life is just all about? One roller coaster ride after another? It sure seems like it; now I know why I’ve never liked roller coasters! In order for it to be called a roller coaster ride, it has to be up and down, round and round – there are no straight paths, it’s all curves. Curves and dips that make your stomach drop right out and your screams of distress just seem to ride the wind with no response at hand. I hate roller coaster rides! While my entire married life has been a roller coaster ride, one with all the usual kiddie rides in the beginning of just...
