The beginning of February…and a blanket of the white fluffy stuff is hindering our songbirds from easily filling their bellies. So, we take it upon ourselves to brush obirdfeederff the nearest tree branches so they can alight more quickly, slide off the top area underneath the feeder with our house shoes, fill up the feeders and feel at peace with the world knowing that our jobs as ‘keeper of the flock’ has been accomplished for the day.

But sitting from the warmth of my family room, watching the birds come and go, and come again, I am reminded how the Holy One, the Creator of the Universe provides – always. Could our feathered friends survive on their own? Could they gather the hidden berries and seeds in the frozen ground? Probably. They surely have lots of experience in that area.

But what did the Creator of the Universe, in his infinite wisdom, design? He designed his children to have a love and appreciation for his handiwork, his creatures, his mural! Children who delight in helping others – be it 2 legged or more – children who take pleasure and are warmed at the sight of being a part of creation in some small way.

It brings to mind a few scriptures …..

Genesis 1:21 – So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Psalm 147:9 – He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry.

Song of Solomon 2:12 – The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.

Matthew 6:25-34 – Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. …

What more can we say or add to that? So my friends, cast all your cares upon the One who truly knows all things, truly takes care of everyone and every situation. Trust in Him ….. always.
