Chaos, Storms and More…

When the Storm Rages:
Trusting in His Love, Mercy, and Protection

Life for a believer is not a smooth sail on calm waters. Jesus Himself warned that “in this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33). Storms—whether in the form of sickness, loss, uncertainty, or spiritual battles—will come. Chaos swirls, waves crash, and the wind howls. Yet the promise for the child of God is not the absence of storms, but His presence in the midst of them.

Chaos Has No Authority Over Christ

When the disciples were caught in a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee, panic consumed them—until Yeshua (Jesus) spoke. With a word, He calmed the wind and waves (Mark 4:39). This moment reveals a deep truth: chaos does not have the final word; Yeshua does. His authority reigns over both the physical and spiritual storms in our lives.

Love That Anchors the Soul

Fear whispers that we are abandoned, but the Holy One’’s Word declares the opposite. His love is steadfast, unfailing, and personal. Romans 8:38–39 assures us that nothing—not death, life, angels, demons, present troubles, or future fears—can separate us from His love. When our hearts are rooted in this truth, the storm loses its power to shake us.

In moments when we falter, stumble, or feel overwhelmed, His mercy meets us. Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed… His mercies never fail. They are new every morning.” Every sunrise is a fresh declaration of His commitment to carry us through.

Protection That Cannot Fail

Psalm 91 paints the picture of a believer sheltered under the shadow of the Almighty—protected not because the world is free of danger, but because His covering is stronger than any threat. Trusting His protection means resting in the reality that nothing touches us without passing through His sovereign hands.

How to Stand in the Storm

  1. Fix your eyes on Jesus – Like Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:29–30), we remain steady when our gaze is on Him, not the waves.
  2. Speak His promises aloud – His Word is a sword that cuts through fear.
  3. Stay in worship – Worship shifts our perspective from the size of the storm to the greatness of our God.
  4. Walk in community – Don’t face the winds alone; God often strengthens us through the faith of others.

The storm may rage, but it cannot define you.
Your identity is anchored in the One who commands the wind, walks on the waves, and holds you with unshakable love. Trust His heart, lean into His mercy, and rest under His protection—because no storm is greater than your Savior.

Rest …. in …. Him
