Seeds…

Seeds…

Seeds, seeds, seeds, big ones, little ones, white ones, red ones, black ones…a myriad of seeds!

But we’re talking about a different kind of seed. It’s a seed that you plant within someone else!

How do we do that? Well, if you think about it, we plant seeds every single day, many times during the day! When we speak words of advise, words of anger, words of bitterness, words of uplifting…all those are seeds! The words we let escape from our lips can deliver life or death.

Our words have power! That power creates an action – tearing down or building up. It’s pretty simple to understand, really…what is in our hearts, comes out our mouth!

Proverbs 18:21 says that life and death are in the power of the tongue.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

Throughout scripture it speaks of life and death in the power of the tongue.

Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! James 3:5

The tongue has a life of its own and there is extreme power in the words we form. We can praise our Lord & Father  and with it we can crse our brother and sister – sometimes at the same time!

Life and death are in the power of the words the tongue produces. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness (James 3:9).

Our words can cause physical pain, emotional trauma and spiritual death or life. Just think of all the ways that your words can affect those you love. Especially the words we speak to our children. Our children have been given to us as a precious gift to nurture and build up and to allow them to be confident, efficient and strong adults. Many times we tear down those virtues and gifts that they have with the careless words we spew forth.

So the next time you open your mouth, consider taking a deep breath and evaluating what it is that you are speaking forth.

It’s all LIFE or DEATH … nothing more, nothing less.
