Who Is The Great “I AM”?

What a great question! Who do YOU say is the GREAT I AM?

First…we need to ask ourselves, does it matter?  Personally, I think it does, you’ll have to make up your own mind.

We see the first instance of this terminology in Exodus 3:14 when Elohim (God) states His own name for the first time: “God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM’. And He said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you’”.  So the Holy One Himself calls out this phrase. But what does it mean?

Let’s look at it in Hebrew.  “Ehyeh asher Ehyeh”, which translates as “I will be what I will be.”

The Israelites, Egypt, had called their god Elohim or El –  this is a title, not a personal name. Sometimes the bible translates it as “El Shaddai”, often translated as God Almighty. However when the Great I AM introduced himself and gave Himself that ‘name’ it was to  conveys His dominion over all things. It revealed the source of His power, and His eternal nature. Literally, it means that he is the all sufficient, He is the self-sustaining One – the One who was, who is, and who will be. He is ALL in ALL.

I’d say that pretty much sums it up!
