Hanukkah begins with the lighting of the menorah (מְנוֹרָה), a sacred lampstand that symbolizes God’s eternal or—His light. The miracle of Hanukkah occurred during a season of choshech (חֹשֶׁךְ), darkness brought on by oppression and spiritual corruption. Yet God’s light was not extinguished; it shone brighter than the darkness surrounding it.
When Yeshua stood in the Temple during Hanukkah and declared, “I am the light of the world,” He revealed Himself as the fulfillment of this enduring truth. God’s answer to darkness has always been light—and that light continues to shine for all who follow Him.
So ask yourself this question…are shining HIS light within you? With every breath are you bringing light into the darkness that surrounds you? Do one thing this first day to shine the LIGHT!
