This meme says a lot in a few words. Going through the journey of retrospection during this month causes us to take a look in the rear-view mirror and wonder…..what if. What if I had done this…or that…or said this…or that? Questions that have no answers. But in looking back, we can also see clearly how each and every decision leads to a different fork in the road. Some good…some…well, not so good.

But here we are, right now, present tense. And all those decisions that we didn’t think had destinations, did. And we are who we are because of those decisions. So let’s take stock of what we like about ourselves and what we don’t. If you like something about yourself….write it down on the “+” side of your paper and then a few comments about why. Do the same thing on the other side of the paper, the “-” side and a few comments about why you don’t like that part of yourself.

After you are quite finished….read them over slowly.  Did any of those pluses or minuses cause anyone else to stumble? Did you hurt someone? Did someone hurt you? Many would just say – ‘get over it’ – in fact, I’ve often said that – to myself. Get over it!

But truth be told, if you wrote something down, if something came up inside that caused you to put pen to paper, than … well, you’re not over it! So let’s take a little moment and delve into it a bit deeper. Because this month is one of retrospection….than it is a perfect time to take an honest and long look at who we are, who we think we are and how we can be the person that we are supposed to be. Do you have someone you need to go to …. someone you need to apologize to or forgive?
