Have you ever come out of the woods peppered by those little cleavey seeds and maybe even uttered a few choice words as you slowly picked them off one by one? Well, don’t do that! They are chock full of nutrients, vitamins and down right good for you!
CLEAVERS – scientifically known as Galium Aparine – are a superherb! This little non-descript ‘weed’ is full of vitamins and minerals and is an excellent source of Vitamin C! Because Vitamin C is an antioxidant, it will help support the immune system as well as help remove free radicals. Another Vitamin it contains is A which helps to boost the immune system and may help with vision problems, good skin and mucous membranes. Also in this little plant is a rich supply of calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium! All good reasons to take another look at this little wild thing.
The easiest way to use CLEAVERS is to simply tincture it and use it as a tea. Simply take a handful of freshly washed cleavers and steep in hot water for about 10 minutes and then strain out. Delish!
Cleavers can also be used as a fresh vegetable in your favorite salad, or add to soups, omelets and whatever your imagination desires!
It’s amazing to change your perspective on ‘weeds‘ and allow the healing power of God’s bountiful nature touch your heart and soul (as well as help heal your body)!!
